Site 1: Guest Book
and nearby Cave.
Located at the north side of the
Pinnacles, this is the first site you will see if you stay on the main
gravel road. Once you've found Site 1, you will be able to find
the other Sites. As you approach Site 1 you will get a good overall view
of the Trona Pinnacles.
Site 2: Jet Pack
Pinnacle.
Follow the gravel road until you are directly south of Site 2, then look straight north.
The pinnacle is visible from the road. There is a small
bluff just south of the road where you can walk up on to see the Jet
Pack pinnacle from a very similar perspective to that obtained by the Lost
in Space film crew.
Site 3: The Chariot's
Path
Starting from
Site 2, follow the road and keep to your right when the road branches.
Before you
reach the next gravel road (which runs nearly perpendicular to you), look for
one of the many smaller paths which allow you to turn left and head
directly north. The map does not show all of the
roads and paths available, so look for an appropriate route.
Continuing north, look for the V-notched rock on your left. The roads are
rough and hilly, and sand washes exist in some areas. A 4-wheel
drive is recommended.
Site 4: Smaller
Trona Pinnacles.
This area is less traveled than the main Pinnacles. We didn't
attempt to find any familiar sites here, but that doesn't mean none were
filmed here! |
